New Years 2012

We took a little trip to Atlanta for the weekend to ring in the New Year and to see Auburn play in the Chick-fil-a bowl. We planned it about a month ago when we first got word of which bowl game Auburn would be playing in. Atlanta was perfect, only about 2 hours from our house and we knew it would be a fun place to celebrate New Year's Eve.

We booked a room downtown so that we would be able to walk to the game. I've always heard about the infamous Peach Drop at midnight in the Underground area so I knew we'd be able to get to both places on foot if we stayed downtown.
It's no secret that I have always been an Alabama fan but it doesn't bother me at all to put on a little orange and blue for games with Allen.
Pre-game we went to the FanFest area they had set up. Mainly so Allen and Josh could see Tiger Walk.
We got there a little early, perfect photo-op :)

We had so much fun at the game and the people around us proved to be quality entertainment. Two Virginia fans were escorted out and the alcohol was too much for several others around us too. The beginning was a little rocky but the Tigers pulled out a win.

After the game we walked to the Peach Drop and made it with about 10 minutes to spare. It was crazy crowded so we watched from afar.
After the Peach Drop we had a pretty low key night and by low key I mean we ordered food from the hotel bar and then went to bed. So much fun, we are. :)

We checked out Saturday and we were starving, like usual. I'm a big fan of a little show that comes on Food Network called "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" and anytime I see somewhere that I think we might have a shot at going too I make a mental note. I remember seeing this little place on a barbeque episode and I suggested it for our New Year's lunch.

I have to be honest and say I almost backed out when we pulled up. Thank goodness we didn't judge this place too quickly because it was seriously the best barbeque I have ever eaten and everyone agreed.

Here we are with Brooke and Josh, inside Daddy D'z.

Our eyes were certainly bigger than our stomachs and we ordered way too much food. We made sure to eat the traditional New Year's Day foods like collard greens, black-eyed peas and pork. I can't imagine going back to Atlanta and not eating here, it was just that good.

This was our first time to leave Braylen overnight for a trip and I have to say we missed her like crazy but she had so much fun staying with her Mawmaw and Papaw.

  7. WOW What an awesome trip! We've been wanting to go out on the town like this but right now Peanut is so clingy that there is no way that we could leave her overnight with someone. Maybe in a few months.
