what's in my makeup bag?

A while back the fabulous Erin at Blue Eyed Bride did a "What's in my..." post. I was feeling a little inspired and wanted to share with you the contents of my makeup bag. I love posts like these because I always find amazing products I didn't have a clue about and I'd definitely love to hear from you in the comments. Tell me, is there a beauty must-have that I'm missing?

Let's take it from the top. I currently use this adorable Coach makeup bag that was a recent birthday present from my mother.

I'm not a huge make-up-wearer, I mean I wear it every day but it's quick and easy. Obviously I put more effort into it if we're going out but for everyday wear I keep it simple.I start out with this primer from Mary Kay, it does a good job at keeping my foundation on all day.

Concealer is always the first thing I use. Look at this concealer on the left, it is cheap drug-store concealer that a friend recommended. Those two on the right combined probably cost five times the one on the left. I'm a big believer in brand-name make-up but I'm here to tell that the Maybeline Age Rewind works better than any concealer I've ever used.

Next up, mineral powder. In an effort to avoid wrinkles I refuse to rub anything on my face with one of those sponge things or my fingers. I'm completely serious. I don't need any help in the aging department and I'm doing my best to combat it while I'm young. So I use mineral powder and apply it with a brush. I've used just about every mineral powder out there but I'm currently using Mary Kay, it's one of my favorites.

I'm actually wearing a lot of Mary Kay right now. My sweet friend Brittany sells it and she drops it off to me at my house. It definitely beats taking a toddler into the nearest Ulta, 30 minutes from my house. I've been completely satisfied with their products. I use their blush, mineral eye shadows and mascara.

But eyeliner? I'm a believer in Mac eyeliner. It's seriously the best I've ever used and I don't have any plans of changing.
I keep another makeup bag in the closet with foundation, tons of eye shadow and liner colors and other fun stuff for when I really need to be "made-up," but these are the things I use on a daily basis.

And speaking of make-up bags I have a list of new things I want to fill mine with thanks to Birchbox! This month was the best yet...

  • FIX Malibu Immaculate Complexion Advanced Antioxidant Serum
  • Juicy Couture perfume
  • VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything Lotion
  • Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof eyeliner
  • Witchcraft granola

And the best part? It's just $10 each month! Click here to sign up so you can get the February box!

  3. This is a great idea for a post! I just may have to borrow it!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Bare Minerals! I hadn't even thought about it not tugging on my (aging) skin...I just love the flawless coverage. It never seems to wear off either. I use the full-coverage concealer brush with the regular foundation powder for my dark circles, too. I am also a HUGE fan of anything to brighten my eyes, so that Benefit Ooh-La-Lift is also an everyday "tool" of mine! :)

Can't wait to do this myself! Thanks for sharing!
