full of firsts

I need to update the blog about several "firsts" around here. I figured it would be easiest to do it all in one post.

This week BK had her first sick visit to the peds office. She did get sick a few days after she was born but she went straight to the hospital that time. This was our first trip that wasn't a well-baby check-up. She woke up on Sunday with a runny nose but I didn't really think much of it because that was her only symptom. On Monday, when she woke up she said "a ear hurts," when we asked which one she pointed to her left one every time.

She didn't act very sick but if she was telling me her ear hurt then we would definitely get it checked out. Her daddy stayed home with her on Monday and took her to the doctor while I was teaching. Turns out he said the left ear looked a little red and perhaps she had the beginnings of an ear infection. Amoxicillin was prescribed to go ahead and remedy any infection there might be.

I'm thinking nearly 22 months isn't too shabby, she's been a healthy little girl.
Here she is telling me which ear hurts. She looks pretty sick, huh? :)

Moving on to another first for Project 365. I downloaded the app so I could just add the pictures to the calendar. The first month of 2012 is over and I have a picture for each day. I love how we can look over the whole month at a glance. So fun!

And for the first time this year I'll be starting the Instagram Photo A Day challenge. Many of my Twitter friends already participate so I decided I would jump in for February. Just what I need... more pictures. Oh, and this isn't replacing P365, I'll just have two different calendars now.

I didn't blog about this but on the 13th we went to see Beauty and The Beast in 3D. She loved the movie and had the best time. She sat still with Allen and I for the entire movie.I was a bit surprised since she isn't interested in sitting still, ever.  We enticed her with popcorn and gummy bears and that did the trick.
Here she is ready to go! She kept saying "I see a Beast movie"

And without our first trip to the movies I would have never captured this funny moment. Her 3D glasses and personality? A winning combination.

Last Wednesday after church my Aunt Shelia trimmed BK's hair for the first time. She barely trimmed away the stray hairs and shaped up those cute little ringlets. She pretty much lost her mind and started crying so hard when we put the cap on her, this time we enticed her with a candty cane. Whatever works, people, whatever works. I can't believe that the tiny amount of hair she cut made such a huge difference. It looks thicker and longer already.
