I keep replaying that Taylor Swift song in my head, over and over, it’s on repeat. Especially the part this part:
There is a video I found from back when I was three
You set up a paint set in the kitchen and you’re talking to me
It’s the age of princesses and pirate ships and the seven dwarfs
And Daddy’s smart and you’re the prettiest lady in the whole wide world
I don’t know why all the trees change in the fall
I know you’re not scared of anything at all
Don’t know if Snow White’s house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today
I’ve been a little negligent of the blog lately, not because I don’t want to blog, certainly not because I don’t have a ton of things to say or to share. Instead, we’ve been busy, making tons of memories in these last few weeks as a family of three. I know life is going to slow down in a major way when the baby arrives. Much like when we welcomed Braylen, simple things like the random eating out and unplanned movie going came to a halt. In the past year, we’ve found ourselves back in that place, going here and there, taking a weekend trip on a whim, seeing more childrens movies than I care to admit.
If I need to go shopping and run a million errands, she can hang with me, she is my sidekick for anything I need to accomplish. And even though I am looking forward to the days ahead with a full heart, I know these days will always be special to me, and it’s my hope that BK is tucking away some of these special times as well. I sometimes wondered if we waited too long, if the age gap would be too big, but when I think about this time we’ve had, I know I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So, what have we been up to? Here’s a little recap of the past week. You’ve already seen most of these if you follow me on Instagram.
We’ve been soaking up the pretty weather and using our zoo membership whenever possible. We keep trying to sneak a peek at the baby giraffe that was born several weeks ago, but he always seems to be inside when we go. We’ll have to keep trying.
We’ve been indulging way too much. Steel City Pops and a few of my favorite restaurants in the past week. BK loves a Steel City Pop, so if we’re nearby, we always make it a point to try a new flavor.
On Tuesday, we got to take a look at the baby via 4D ultrasound. I’ll share more about that later. He looks a lot like his big sister, with fuller cheeks and lips. It’s crazy how good we could see him, and it just makes me want to hold him in my arms that much more. BK also had a dentist appointment with a great report and we grabbed a bite to eat, once again. She loves telling secrets these days, which is what she’s doing in the photo below.
And we’ve even snuck in a few one-on-one dates when Allen has to work late. Panera is our favorite place to grab a quick bite to eat and chat.
I’m also on Every Day Cheer today, posting a favorite St. Patrick’s Day recipe that everyone will love!

I love that Taylor Swift song. I play it on repeat sometimes too along with the Don’t grow up one.

Oh I know she’ll appreciate all the fun time y’all have spent together recently. Things will change when the baby comes, but she’ll be a BIG SISTER! She’s going to love it!

I know I’m a little behind, but what a sweet post! I love that Taylor Swift song, and I’m sure seeing it come to life with BK makes it even more special!
Enjoy these last few weeks ๐
