ONE: We had a packed weekend! A gender reveal, birthday party, lunch after church on Sunday, a few dates with the barre, and dinner with our neighbors. I love a good weekend of fun. But, this weekend I’m making an executive decision to take it down a few notches.
TWO: We zoomed through The Good Wife and Friday Night Lights thanks to Amazon Prime and Amazon Fire TV, we’ve moved on to Parenthood. We’re taking this series a little slower, I can’t quite hang with the late nights these days.
THREE: BK started swim lessons last week. I’m hoping this will give her the little confidence that she needs to finally swim on her own without fear. She’s great about going under, but still panic when swimming to us from the side of the pool and forgets a few essential techniques.
FOUR: I started the Whole30 diet last Wednesday (sorry, Weight Watchers) and it’s going so well. Today is day 7 and I’m coming up with so many fresh and delicious food ideas. I don’t think I’ve ever been on a diet this long without having a small cheat somewhere along the way. I’m going to give you a more detailed post about the diet later this week.
FIVE: Judson has entered the grab all the things and put them in his mouth phase. He’s been on the verge of grabbing things and it’s been so fun to watch as he figures out just how those little hands work. He’s provided us with some fantastic entertainment.
SIX: I’m going on a month of being back at Pure Barre and I still feel like my core strength is basically nonexistent. Those c-sections really take it out of you. I’m happy to see some progress, but my goodness, I can barely do a sit-up during the warm-up’s some days.
SEVEN: Anthropologie has the cutest set of Glittering Serveware on sale and it had to come to my kitchen! Seriously, it’s a great price when paired with the justbecause free shipping code. Go snag some from the sale section pronto.
EIGHT: Back to Whole 30, I’m realizing that most of my calories must have come from drinks, and I don’t even drink alcohol. I’m talking daily Starbucks runs and embarrassing amounts of creamer in my morning coffee.
NINE: Is anyone caught up on their childs baby book? If so, do you want to come catch the two up at my house that have been neglected? All the info is right here on the blog, it won’t be too hard.
TEN: I’m having mixed emotions about not going back to work. I see all of the school supplies out when I go shopping, and I can’t help but feel a little sad about all of the freshly sharpened crayons I won’t be purchasing for my classroom. At the same time, I can’t imagine going back to work. It’s such a bittersweet time, but when it comes down to it, I know this is right where I need to be.

I’m so jealous of the Barre classes you are able to take. I’ve wanted to try one for the longest time but there aren’t any really offered in my area that doesn’t also involve a 50+ minute drive after work. Good luck on the core workouts, those are a serious challenge!

I taught kindergarten for three years before my boys were born so I can empathize. I haven’t taught in 9 years, but I still miss it twice a year so much it makes me ache. Back to school and February (when all the cute Valentine’s and Presidents’ Day activities come out) are always the times that get me. I wouldn’t change staying home for THE WORLD, but the teacher part of my heart will always be there. Just channel all your fun teacher ideas into mommy activities and you will notice you hardly miss it at all. Treat yourself to some new school supplies just for fun-it will make you feel better! You are making the right choice-those babies don’t stay babies for long.

Those c-sections destroy our bodies more than we know! :/ I had the same experience. I was doing a video at my house about 12 weeks after giving birth and realized I couldn’t do one single sit-up. You don’t realize you even had those muscles until it seems like they are completely gone! The good thing is that they come back… eventually.
I have never heard of Whole30. Good luck with it though!

I wish we had a pure barre studio near us. I teach kindergarten and my maternity leave ends the first day of school! I’ll be so sad to leave my babies!

I am feeling a little bittersweet about not going back to school (tomorrow ) , but I am so thankful The Lord has given me this opportunity to stay home too.

could you maybe tutor or something once or twice a week to keep teaching while still staying home? My coworker’s wife did that and she loved it.
Glad things are going well for you!!!

I did the whole 30 in January. I ended up losing 14 lbs! Since then, I haven’t had a soda, sweet tea, coffee creamer or milk and I’ve kept the weight off. I allow myself to pretty much eat what I want when we go out to dinner-which is about 2-3 times per week, but at home, I don’t eat any grains, legumes, or dairy. I’m still sleeping well and a cough I’d had for 4 mos is still gone. I’m sort of blown away by the results. Though my weight is the same, I’m definitely less lean, but I’m mostly okay with that since I don’t feel deprived. But, I’m planning to do another in August to reign it in a bit. Good luck!

I’d like to know more about Whole 30. It sounds like a good plan.
