If you’ve been reading this blog, you know we’re huge fans of the beach. We’re only about 4 hours away from the white sandy beaches of the Gulf Coast. It’s a quick trip that I’ve taken for as long as I can remember. When we were planning our trip this year, I knew we would need to wait as long as possible in hopes that the temperatures would be cooler and to let Jud get a little bigger. By the time our departure date rolled around, we were all ready for some beach fun.
We declared this our easy year for BK. She was content to play in the sand and splash around in the waves for hours at a time. She would take a break under the tent, grab a snack with her sandy fingers and head back to play some more. Bottles of sunscreen were used on this beach loving girl.
As for Judson, he was a different story. He spent most of the time in the room, but he didn’t mind the sand. He would dig his toes in and take quicks naps on the beach.
We invited my mom to join us, and it was seriously the best decision we could have made. She was such an enormous help. Allen and I were even able to sneak in a date night while they ordered pizza and watched The Little Mermaid back at the condo.
She also kept Jud for us to take our best girl on an in-shore fishing trip. I really wanted some beach pictures, so Allen and I compromised, he was happy to take beach pictures if we would go fishing with him. I’m not really much for the great outdoors, but I must say, we had the best time. We caught plenty of trout, redfish and flounder. Originally, we hadn’t planned to take BK, but I am so glad we did! She reeled in fish like a pro and loved every minute of the trip.
The captain even dropped us off on this beach full of shells and she was in heaven!
We ate out most nights, and we usually timed it just right for Jud to take a nice nap during dinner.
We strolled around Pier Park and had a little carnival ride fun.
We dressed up for beach pictures, and I can’t wait to get them back!
The last few days were overcast and cool and we really enjoyed the beach without worrying about the heat. We watched a few sunsets and I even read a few books. Allen and BK dug holes and built sand castles, she made new friends on the beach, and we really enjoyed our lazy days!
There were plenty of pictures taken, seafood eaten, and morning doughnut runs. By Sunday, we were all ready to sleep in our own beds (especially Jud).
Of course, there were plenty of melt-downs, sleeping drama from the smallest Green, and no shortage of naps missed (more on that later). But overall, it was a great vacation. We all came home happy and refreshed!

I’ve never spent a whole day at the beach. It sounds like a lot of work!! We live by the beach so we just go for an hour or so whenever. I think staying on the beach is a whole new ball game. Definitely lots of sunscreen ha. It sounds like you guys really nailed it on this one! Yay for having a great beach trip, and naps at dinner.
