For years and years I put a ton of stock into a number on the scale. I went to college and made the Dean’s List, formed successful relationships, led youth groups at church, taught a roomful of kindergarteners how to read, and so many other meaningful things. Yet, the scale was the one thing that could outweigh it all. It could change my mood and it could change the way I felt about myself.
It wasn’t until after I had my daughter that I was truly able to clearly focus on how skewed my perception was. I watch her now, so confident in who she is at just five years old, and I realize what an accomplishment it truly was to be able to give up my focus on the scale.
She used to sit and watch me while I was getting ready in the mornings, her eyes following my every move. I quickly realized that her eyes would always be on me, watching and taking in my every move. I didn’t want her to grow up watching me being a slave to the scale and place value in a number on the scale. I decided to make a change and show her a different way of thinking.
My greatest accomplishment doesn’t rely on a number on a scale these days. Instead, my greatest accomplishment is the woman I am teaching her to be each and every day. It means showing her how to make healthy choices and love her body just like it is, it means I quiet the chatter about weight and body image and focus on how much I love my body for all of the amazing things it can do.
From growing two amazing babies to chasing them around at the park. I am strong and I am healthy and I am loved, and there isn’t a number on the scale that can change those things.
I’m excited to share with you that I have been selected as one of Lean Cuisine’s Phenomenal Ambassadors. I’ll be working with the brand this summer to help share great stories of accomplishments and great food. I’m even more excited to share how Lean Cuisine is completely overhauling its brand. The brand is reintroducing itself as a brand focused on modern eating; with it, comes new bold, ethnic flavors, new attributes, contemporary packaging which Ill be writing about later as well as a new brand campaign that Im thrilled to share with you today.
The new campaign, Feed Your PhenomenalTM is kicking things off by releasing the #WeighThis video that feature real women “weighing” themselves to help start a social conversation. This video is close to my heart as it reinforces the fact that we shouldn’t weigh ourselves based on a number on a scale, but rather, on our accomplishments.
Please check out Lean Cuisine‘s #WeighThis video! And then answer this question in the comments to enter the SheKnows sweepstakes for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card:

I wish I would be weighed by the wife and mother I am. Having been raised by parents who were each married 3 times, I am really proud of the fact that I’ve been married for 17 years to the same man, and we’re expecting our 4th child together.

I should be weighed on what I have accomplished in my life. I graduated with a doctorate degree and a successful high school athlete. I look young for my age and I wish people would weigh me based on my intelligence, kindness, innocence, work ethic and compassion. I may be small and have the body of a 12 year old, but I wish people would look past my weight and size and judge me on the above qualities. I am more than my body. I have gone from being overweight to underweight and everywhere in between and I have come to love me for who I am.

I wish they would weigh me on what they don’t see- like staying in a marriage when most people would have left over what has happened in it, or the work of getting my associate degree with two little kids at home, or getting up every day when I’m especially depressed.
