Braylen had a good night again. Her heart rate did drop a few times, as did her oxygen. We talked to the doctor this morning and he was not concerned with the drops in her vitals because she is able to get them back up so quickly on her own. He likes that all of her issues with her vitals have been "self resolving." We have noticed this morning that she has been coughing and sneezing a lot more, but the doctor says this just means everything is "breaking" up and she is finally getting it out. So right now we are looking at definitely coming home in the morning. Her team of doctors are very thorough and want to see her continue to improve before she is able to go home. 2 Weeks
Today Braylen is two weeks old and we can't believe how time has flown! We are still at the hospital and this is definitely not where we planned to be two weeks ago when we were holding our sweet girl for the first time. However, as I look around at all the families in the waiting room who have children in the ICU or the Special Care Unit, I realize how blessed we truly are. So when you pray, I ask that you say a prayer for the other sweet babies and children that are here as well. Many of them haven't received good news like we have with Braylen. Update
We talked to the doctors this morning and Braylen is doing much better. She hasn't had any drops in her heart rate since 8:15 yesterday morning. However, she did have a few instances where her oxygen stats dropped, so they will continue to monitor her today and throughout the night. She will have to stay in the Special Care Unit until she can keep her oxygen up for 24 hours. All of the cultures from the tests came back today and they showed no other infection (besides the parainfluenza). Therefore, they were able to stop the antibiotics and fluid and remove the IV.
