Since the new year, I've made more healthy food choices than I did in the last 3 months combined. Possibly a stretch, but I'm pretty proud of the fact that I've been able to say no to a few of my favorite dishes in exchange for lighter fare. While I was grocery shopping last weekend (and starving, might I add) I suddenly felt the need to drive to the nearest Italian restaurant for a taste of comfort food at its finest, chicken parmesan. on mean girls and the weight of words
As an educator to young children, I hear girls toss around hurtful words and insults without a second thought. I'll often shake my head in disbelief and think, how in the world can those cruel words come from a child? I even find myself saying aloud, There was a time when kids weren't this cruel to one another. But, I know that's not true. You see, I've been on the receiving end of a mean girls fury. 2012 reading list update & a new list for the new year
One of my resolutions last year was to read more books. It may very well be the only resolution I managed to stick to, and I'm okay with that. My goal was to read 12 books, not a very lofty goal, but one I thought would be attainable. Some books I read over weeks and weeks and some I read in a single setting on a weekend trip to the beach. Last year, I complained of not having enough time to read. I tried to manage my time better and that meant cutting out some mindless reality television and a few other shows.
