What’s for Dessert?

Paula Deen’s Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding Recipe with a few minor tweaks.
1 box Mini Nilla Wafers Original recipe calls for: 2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies

  • 6 to 8 bananas, sliced
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 (5-ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream


Paula’s directions are below in red. I chose to use a trifle bowl and layer the cookies, bananas and pudding mixture. Mainly because I like the way things look in the trifle bowl. I just started at the bottom with the cookies, then bananas and then add the pudding mixture. I repeat the process until I get to the top. So easy. So good! 
Line the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top.
In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

    This looks AMAZING! I have seen this recipe in PDs cookbooks, but have always chickens out. Will have to try your modified recipe for sure.

    Oh my goodness! This looks absolutely delicious! My Alan loves banana pudding too! :) I think I’ll be getting the ingredients this weekend so I can make it next week!

    I found a recipe for a WW fruit trifle at SkinnyTaste.com. You could sub in bananas instead of blueberries and strawberries. I made it and it was delicious! :)
