Braylen Kate,
How did we get here so quickly? I can’t believe you turned 18 months last week. A year and a half worth of snuggles and smiles firsts and fun. You are the absolute best thing that has happened to us. I’m not kidding when I tell you that we lay awake at night and just laugh at the things you do and say. You are so funny, BK. You have a personality that shines and grows each day. You love to be the center of attention and you think everyone should pay attention to you as you smile and wave.
You love music and dancing, spaghetti, bananas, Elmo, Bubble Guppies and being outside. You don’t like Singamajigs, leaving your shoes on in the car, being sleepy, french fries or sitting still. That’s right, you like to run and play all day and you don’t slow down until its time to sleep. You’re a tiny ball of energy and you certainly keep us on our toes.
Of course, you are still a mama’s girl through and through but lately you’ve been giving your daddy a lot more love and attention. Especially when it comes to the piano. You love to sit down and play the piano with him and when I try to play you move my hand and say “No, da-da.” Obviously, you realize that what I’m playing sounds nothing like how your daddy plays or better yet, how it should sound.
I’ve stopped worrying so much about you growing up too fast. Maybe because you keep me so busy I don’t have time for it anymore or maybe because I know the next stage is going to be even better. Even though, at the time it seems like there is no way it could. I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again, I don’t know what we ever did without you and I can’t imagine our lives any other way.
Your 18 Month Stats:
- Clothes Size 18M
- Diaper Size: 3
- We go to the doctor tomorrow. My guess would be 22 pounds and 33 inches. You seem to get taller every day.
- You wear a size 5 1/2 shoe but you are quickly outgrowing it. Your feet grew quickly and I felt like a horrible mom when the lady at Stride Rite said you wore a 5 1/2 and I’ve been buying a size 5.
- Words (from previous months): Mommy, Daddy, Coco, yellow, nana (banana), berry (strawberry”, bo-berry (blue berry), chicken, bite, mmm (yum), more, milk, Elmo, fish, dog, cat, orange, blue, purple, pink, you can count to three but after three you say “bive, bive,” no, k (okay), out (outside), get down, where are you, bubbles, boat, Bible, dance, night night, bow, bird, nanny, papaw, Donna, DebbiDo, Bill, mawmaw, Chase, Haley, Cooper, cow, moo, bok-bok (chicken sound), woof-woof (dog sound), duck, bath, “Get a bite”, and I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting but you basically repeat what I’m saying. Since you can repeat anything we say now you’re starting to use phrases more “where are you?” “go outside.” You put no in front of things you don’t like. For example “no bite”
- Basically you repeat everything we say and are really starting to string words together. You love to say “Help me” and your manners are really improving you say “Please” and “Thank You” when you’re supposed to, most of the time without being prompted.
- You try to count the stairs. You really, really love “five” We hear you saying “five, siiix” over and over while you’re playing.
- Animal sounds are something you’ve mastered this month. So far cat, dog, duck, chicken, frog, owl and cow. We have little animals and you can pick them up >and tell me their sounds. This month you’ve learned tiger, horse and rooster.
- Colors: From last month: We’ve been working with colors and yellow was the word you really latched onto. Everything was yellow for a few weeks, now you’re starting to recognize yellow. And can differentiate it from the others, sometime. Pink is another color word you really like. This month you’re starting to pick up on red and blue.
- Potty Training: This is going to be TMI for most of you but for the past few months you’ve really wanted to use your potty. Actually, 4-5 times a day. We just let you do your thing and don’t push it but maybe soon we’ll try full-on and see how it goes.
- Favorite food: bananas, apples, spaghetti, chicken and cheese. You love water and milk too.

Happy 18 months! Just curious do you have any secrets to keep her bow in? Morgan refuses to wear a bow but I always notice that you dont seem to have any issues.
