I’ve probably told you once or twice that BK is full of personality. I mean FULL of it, she’s funny and silly, she’s serious and dramatic and she never meets a stranger. I’ve been waiting and waiting to do one of these posts and it seems that now that her vocabulary has taken off it would be the perfect time to start.
“Hi boy” or “Hi Big Boy”
This is what she says to our dog, Coco. I have NO idea where this came from or where she first heard someone say it. Obviously we don’t call our bog “boy” or “big boy” since Coco is a 9 pound, female. Not big or a boy, in fact.
“Hep Me, Hep Me” (Help Me)
I hear this no less than twenty times per day. When she shuts the door to her bedroom, she can’t pick up the couch, she wants to open the refrigerator, she turns the television off or she wants to put on my shoes.
“Hold You”
She says “hold you” when in fact she means “hold me.”
“Ahh Wa” pronounced (ahhhwa)
When we were looking for her paci one day and she was ready for a nap and really about to loose it, I suggested we call her paci. I said, “Braylen, let’s call your paci, Paci? Where are you?” From then on she started saying “Paci, ahh wa?” Well now that her vocabulary is bigger she actually says “Where are you?” Somehow in the mix-up she started calling her paci “ahh wa” and now when she wants her paci she says, “Ahh wa, where are you?”
“La-La”
La-La is water to Braylen, always has been and I’m not sure how that came about.
“Hot Dog”
That would be Mickey Mouse and while she does call him “Mick-Mick” sometimes she usually refers to him as hot dog, you know because of the Hot Dog song.
“Yellow”
Braylen’s universal color for everything. When she’s really paying attention she’ll pick out red, blue and pink. But most of the time her color name of choice is yellow.
“Panpake”
Only her favorite breakfast food second only to Greek yogurt”
And on a not so funny note, she pronounces sit like it has the letter “h” between the “s” and “i”.
We have so much fun with her. She’s constantly making us laugh with all the things she does and says. She’s certainly has her share of toddler meltdowns but they pass quickly and they become fewer as she tests her boundaries. She makes us dance with her and sing, play the piano and guitar, rock her babies and read her books. We wouldn’t have it any other way. ๐

My friend’s son has “Cutta Keys”. What are cutta keys? Sunglasses. Yeah. They don’t know how that came about either.

My gosh it’s crazy how they go from NOTHING to this whole vocabulary. IDK about you, but I’m all into this crazy book reading. Any who, most of the chapters right now (up to 12 months) tell you to keep talking to you baby and explaining your whole day because they say that the baby understands everything and is taking it all in. Although I knew it was kinda right I always kinda thought is was bs but this totally makes me think that it’s true!
