As people get older I think birthdays tend to matter a little less. Around here, that’s not the case. Birthdays are my absolute favorite. So in this house, on February 6, April 13 and November 16 someone is being spoiled. A birthday is more than just a date on the calendar serving as a reminder to add another year to your age. It’s a celebration of a whole year. Even if you have a horrible year, its a reminder that “if I can make it through that, I can make it through anything.” Not that this year was horrible, it was anything but horrible.
It’s been an amazing year as I’ve celebrated sweet happenings in my life and the lives of those around me. Braylen turned one, Allen and I celebrated another anniversary, we watched as B took her first steps, I decided not to go back to work, I watched a friend who tried so long for a baby get the news she was having twins and I watched two friends say “I do.” I’ve laughed a lot, I’ve cried some, I’ve read “Oh, the places you’ll go” more times than I can count, gone on a few great vacations and here I am ready for another year. Because I know it will only get better.
This morning Allen let me sleep in while he took care of Braylen when she woke up bright and early. I thought we’d go out for a cupcake for breakfast but the weather had other plans and I wanted to wait until the tornado warnings expired. Allen snuck away from work early to take me to lunch but I had left my lights on in my car and the battery was dead. We just laughed it off.
We finally made it to P.F. Chang’s for a late lunch and Braylen couldn’t get enough of their egg drop soup.
After lunch, we went over to Barnes and Noble because I wanted to pick up a few Thanksgiving books to read with Braylen next week. This train table distracted her and she played with it for the longest time. Actually, she didn’t want to leave. She kept saying, “choo-choo train, peease”
After we left the book store we headed to my favorite bakery to finally get my cupcake. I tried the Banana’s Foster and it was so good!! Even Allen wanted mine instead of his usual red velvet.
And Braylen? She got a petit four and obviously she’s deprived of things like this, she dug right in…
After church this evening we went to my mom and dads for cake and ice cream. Yes, more cake.
My mother informed me that this was the first year she had to buy two packages of candles since only 24 come in a pack.
Braylen thought she was the star and kept singing “happy cake.”
I really had the best birthday. I now have money and gift cards to go shopping, a new iPhone, a new makeup bag, storage for my fabric downstairs (more on that later) and so many other sweet surprises . Allen also called and arranged for someone to start cleaning the house every other week. Don’t tell him but that could have been my birthday, anniversary, Christmas and Valentines Day combined. ๐

It looks like you had an absolutely fabulous birthday! That is so wonderful that your husband hired someone to clean the house. I’ve been thinking about doing that too. I’d much rather spend my time with my sweet girl than cleaning. Happy Belated Birthday. ๐
