With fall right around the corner I can’t help but let my mind wander to thoughts of pumpkin carvings and hay rides. All of the fun things that come along with fall and cooler temperatures the season brings. A time of year when our calendars are full with family and friends. Trips to the pumpkin patch and fall festival fun.
This time of year it’s so important for me to stay grounded and remember what really matters. When I feel stressed about how we’ll manage to fit everything in this season it’s important to remember to not get too caught up.
Sure, BK will love to take part in all of the fun festivities. They’ll make for great memories and impeccable photo opportunities. But at some point I’ll start to stress out. Mid-October when I realize I just can’t fit it all in and perhaps pumpkins won’t be carved.
That’s when I’ll need to come back and reread these words.
Just love.
She doesn’t care about all of the great photos I’ll get on the hay ride.
She just needs my love.
And for me to tell her about Jesus and say prayers with her at night.
To be pushed on the swing in the backyard.
To cook me dinner in her kitchen.
To snuggle up to me when she goes to sleep at night.
And if we don’t fit it all in and we don’t get everything checked off of our fall bucket list?
It will be just fine.
Here’s to living simply this season. For doing as much as we can and forgetting about what we can’t.

Such a good point! I mean I am guilty of trying to take pics and do the most I can do in the amount of time I have but sometimes it’s just being present that is the most important!

AMEN! I feel the same way. How will I ever get it all done? But they don’t care. Just yesterday, I was in the midst of a hundred things and E woke up from his nap. Instead of giving him a snack and sending him on his way, I just sat with him. A good 30 minutes. It was SO NICE! SO refreshing! SO NECESSARY! And really, that’s all that mattered in those 30 minutes. Thanks for the reminder that they really are all that matter.

I totally appreciate this post and will try to keep it in mind as Fall slowly rolls around these parts. I want to capture it all and blog it all and sometimes I need to remember to live it all and love it all. We made a summer bucket list with the same intention–do what we can and enjoy it and leave the rest for another year.
Have a great week!
