My fall decorating had a late start this year but I did manage to put up a few things. One of the things I love about the new house is the pretty mantle I get to decorate each season. I knew I wanted to do something with letters and I had originally decided on the word Fall to carry me through until Christmas but Hobby Lobby was out of F’s so I ended with Boo!
This was a quick and easy project and I might have $10 dollars in the whole thing.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- wooden letters
- scrapbook paper
- Modge Podge
- a razor blade
- ribbon
Apply Modge Podge to the front of the letter and lay it face down on the scrapbook paper. Allow the Modge Podge to dry.
Use a razor blade to cut around the edge of the paper. A razor blade works great because you can get close to the wooden letter and you don’t have to cut the paper beforehand.
Tie a ribbon around the letter and hang from the fireplace or whichever place you want to dress up for the holidays!

Why did I never think of modpodging it onto the paper then using the exacto to cut it that way instead of cutting it then modpodgeing? Your way sounds much easier to get a good cut!
