A few weeks back, Allen informed me that he was going to go with his dad to get honey from a bee hive. To understand how crazy this sounded to me, you’ll need a little background information: he has never extracted (is that the correct word?) honey from a bee hive.
On one hand, I found this pretty comical. On the other hand, I used my phone to Google, how many bee stings does it take to send someone to the hospital?
And then, of course, I tweeted about it:
That should be bee hive, not new hive, thanks auto correct.
He comes up with some of the craziest ideas, I feel like I’m living an episode of Duck Dynasty, most days. The craziest part is, he has friends who also think these ideas are great, and they just follow him right into the hive of bees, so to speak. So when he told me he would be getting honey, I had no doubt that he would attempt to do this, I just didn’t know how it would turn out.
I really didn’t think much else about it, until Friday evening, when he called to tell him he was going to get the honey. I honestly thought this would be a fluke, and I’m a pretty optimistic person. It’s just that, the last time he told me he was going to rob a bee hive, it turned out to be a hornets nest and he promptly came home. After several hours, he called to tell me that they had indeed been successful in collecting the honey. Turns out he and my brother had about 20 bee stings between the two of them.
Y’all, as much as it pains me to say, he was right.
This is seriously the best honey I’ve ever eaten. They ended up with gallons. Yes, gallons, of honey.
I’ve been using it to sweeten my coffee and oatmeal and just about anything else I can think of that needs to be sweetened.

I seriously love some fresh bee-hive honey!! I would never choose to extract it myself though! lol I think I’d be the biggest baby if I got stung by anything right now… it’s been YEARS since I’ve been stung and I just know I wouldn’t like it. I love that you’re using it in everything though, makes me want some coffee and oatmeal with honey right now! ๐

This is so funny! I would’ve Googled the same thing. My FIL has some bee hives on his farm and that honey is the best!

10 bee stings for gallons of absolutely delicious honey? Sounds worth it to me.

Where oh where did they find a hive to offer GALLONS of honey?
Husbands are weird sometimes. Just weird.

Just reading this post makes me nervous. I can’t believe he did that. The bee stings would not be worth it for me. I’ll buy the so so honey in the store. Ha!
