Apologies for my extended absence around here. We left for the beach last Thursday morning, and made our way back home yesterday. As always, I had big plans to catch up on a few blog posts while I was soaking up the sun, but I read four books instead. And I didn’t miss turning on my computer. Beach trips for me mean staying put on the beach (or by the pool) for most of the day and only venturing out for great seafood at night.
I’ve lost track of how many times we’ve taken this little ray of sunshine to the beach, but I’m assuming we’re hovering in the double digits by now. The beach is a road-trip away for us, actually several beaches are within 4 hours from our house, so it’s easy to take a quick trip to the land of sand and sun.
And every time I think the excitement may wane for her, and I’m proved wrong.
We set up a tent for a reprieve from the sun, and Allen builds sand castles and digs in the sand with his favorite girl, until she asks for the pool. Back and forth from the ocean to the pool, is how our days are spent.
This time our vacation was plus three more, with Josh, Brooke and Reese. We’ve been friends with Josh and Brooke for as long as we’ve been married, and there is never a dull moment. Reese and Braylen are only four months apart and having a playmate at the beach makes it ten times more fun.
We hit up a few of our favorite restaurants for dinner. Allen fishes at night and I stay up later than I should reading books that I’ve had on my Kindle for months.
The girls had the best time at Pier Park riding rides from the old Miracle Strip amusement park. They were both brave and fearless and had no reservations when it came to any of the rides. I thought maybe the Scrambler would be too much, but they laughed and held their hands in the air. They had the best time. running from ride to ride.
In a few weeks, I’ll go back to the classroom. BK will go back to MDO two days a week, and our normal routine will resume. I’m thankful for these little vacations, for this sweet summertime, and have no doubt, we savor each and every minute.
And for memories sake, Brooke took some amazing pictures, I was in awe of them as she loaded the pictures onto her computer. I can’t wait to share them, and hang them on our wall.

I love that y’all are getting to vacation and relax this summer right before you get back in the swing of things!! Sometimes you need to unplug to enjoy life. I would absolutely LOVE the chance to read 4 books at the beach and not have a care in the world about little ole’ blog! The pictures are adorable, but they always are when sweet BK is in them! ๐ Have a great week!

Love the pictures! You are so lucky to live that close to the beach. The nearest one for us is 6 hours away!
