I’m joining a few of my favorite bloggers for a What’s Up Wednesday post. I’m actually a few days late so we’ll just call it, What’s Up, July?
What we’re eating this week: Plenty of Whole 30 approved dishes! Monday night was Plantain nachos, Tuesday night I took BK to gymnastics and stopped by the gym and came home to delicious grilled shrimp from my favorite grill master husband (y’all he has mastered it this summer), bun-less burgers and plenty of salads have also filled the menu.
What I’m reminiscing about: All the tiny baby things. Jud being a tiny baby last summer, plenty of reminiscing about BK being little as we prepare for kindergarten this year, How do they grow so quickly?
What I’m loving: I renewed a few magazine subscriptions and I’m loving finding those gems in the mailbox. Southern Living and People are two of my favorites and years ago I used to pick them up on my grocery store visits. I’m not sure why I stopped, probably because my life became so inundated with social media. I’ve enjoyed putting the phone down lately and engaging in things that make me happy like magazines and books.
What we’ve been up to: Plenty of lake time and beach time. I’m getting a little more confident on the slalom, and we even went with some friends on Sunday evening and Allen ended up slaloming, too, The beach was a blast, but man vacations are work with little ones.
What I’m dreading: School starting back! We’re all excited about BK’s big kindergarten adventure, don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to see summer come to an end. The summer has been one for record books and I’m loving our leisurely days ad schedule-free life. I’m not ready for the hustle and bustle of the school schedule. Can we just have another month (or twelve) of sweet summertime?
What I’m excited about: Shopping for school clothes! I mean, if summer has to end, at least the silver lining is taking BK shopping for school clothes. I’ve refrained from online shopping for her, and we’ve talked up a big shopping adventure, she’s super excited about picking out all her clothes. Her only request so far? No blue jeans, those are not my style.
What I’m watching / reading: We’re currently binge watching Revenge on Hulu. It’s slightly addictive, but I’m pretty excited that in the end, it will be over since the series was cancelled. It like a long (extremely long) movie. I read a few books at the beach and plan on adding them to the August reads post, this week I downloaded, From Scratch by Rachel Goodman.
What I’m wearing: Printed shorts and fun summer dresses! Did I mention it was hot? Like upper-90’s with humidity that is nearly unbearable. So I’m surveying in cool dresses for the most part. I ordered a few fun things from Riffraff recently and I can’t wait to share them with you!
What I’m looking forward to next month: Is it too soon to say a Whole 30 cheat day? Seriously. I don’t want to go back to eating bad, but I need chips and quest in my life. Actually, I think I’ve convinced myself to stick it out through our beach trip in mid-September. However, if you see me eating a pint of Talenti on the eve of the first day of school, no judgements. I’m also super excited to see our beach pictures from Sarah Lyn Photography. She does not disappoint!
